I came “thisclose” to yanking out daylily ‘Empire Strikes Back’ before I got to see a single flower. The plant took FOREVER to get established in my garden, but in its defense the clump I initially planted was very small.
‘Empire Strikes Back’ was definitely worth the wait. When it finally deigned to bloom, I was rewarded with beautiful flowers for over a month. The plant’s registered color is “yellow” but that doesn’t do the blooms justice. There are beautiful hints of coral or perhaps salmon peeking through the petals that give the flowers a lovely glow.
‘Empire Strikes Back’ grows 26 inches tall with 6-inch flowers.
