Now that the growing season is over, it’s time to give a shout-out to the most reliable small-blooming daylily I grow—‘Pandora’s Box’.
I have three of the plants growing together in a flowerbed, and they eagerly put on a display for up to 8 weeks each summer. This year was no exception, and their performance was even more impressive because I divided all of them last fall. Sometimes daylilies rest a bit the year after they’ve been divided. They put more energy into growing new roots rather than sending up flower buds. My plants just shrugged and continued to churn out blooms like crazy.
‘Pandora’s Box’ grows 19 inches tall with creamy-white flowers and a purple eyezone. Most daylilies prefer full sun or part-sun, but my plants thrive in part-shade.
