I bought three amaryllis bulbs and potted them up in late October. One of them shot up right away and bloomed within two weeks. The other two were more leisurely and decided to surprise me during Christmas week.
I love ‘Blushing Bride’. It has very big, beautiful rose-pink flowers on a sturdy, short stem. My plant only reached 12 inches tall.
‘Hercules’ is a show-off. My plant has 2 stalks with a total of 7 flowers. The flower color is hard to describe. I would say the flowers are salmon-red. I’ve also seen them described as fuchsia, salmon-pink, reddish-pink or deep pink-red.
‘Hercules’ grows 18 to 24 inches tall, but my plant topped out at 16 inches.
