When I’m gazing longingly at the seed catalogs, it’s easy to get carried away by the petunias. There are so many wonderful series from which to choose, and breeders keep creating better and better plants.
Over the last couple of years I’ve tried quite a few of the newer series like Nuvolari, Shock Wave, Heat Elite Mambo, Merlin and Hurrah. And while all of them have their fine points, I still think that the Opera Supreme petunias are the best.
I’m fighting the urge to dabble with other cultivars this year, in hopes of sticking with a sure thing. Opera Supremes bloom from early summer until frost. They don’t get leggy and they don’t need deadheading.
