I’ve found very few tulip cultivars that return year after year for me without fail. ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ is one of them. I planted more of the bulbs around my yard last fall.
My favorite bunch came up around an old-fashioned bleeding heart and made a lovely combination:
‘Golden Apeldoorn’ is a Darwin tulip. The flowers are golden-yellow, but sometimes the petals will also show whispers of red:
The flowers are strong, weather-resistant, and really do return year after year. ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ grows about 22 inches tall and is hardy in Zones 3-8.
