Garden Winner: Daylily ‘Newberry Frilly Lady’

I won this daylily as a door prize a few years ago. I didn’t have any expectations for it, especially since it was a solid yellow daylily and I already have quite a few of those. ‘Newberry Frilly Lady’ surprised me, however, with its interesting ruffled petals and bright, sunny color.

‘Newberry Frilly Lady’ is a great plant for the front or middle of the border because it grows only 20 inches tall. Even with its small stature, it showcases huge 6-inch flowers that rival daylilies almost twice its size.

The cherry on top is that this little powerhouse has a pleasing fragrance and blooms for weeks.
