I bought a couple of new bleeding heart plants this spring. ‘Red Fountain’ grows 10-12 inches tall and wide with pinkish-red flowers that appear throughout the growing season.
‘Red Fountain’ does best in partial shade or shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. I had to move one of my plants because even though it was technically growing in partial shade, the sun it received occurred during the heat of the day, and the foliage started to show signs of burning.
Speaking of foliage, I just love the lacy, blue-green leaves of this plant. Unfortunately so did Mrs. Bunny. She really chowed down before I figured out why my plant appeared to be shrinking. I sprayed some Liquid Fence on it, Mrs. Bunny moved on and ‘Red Fountain’ rallied.
‘Red Fountain’ is hardy in Zones 3-9.
