I’m starting to make a list of garden tasks that I want to tackle once spring finally arrives, which at this point, may be mid-July…
One of the first things I’m going to do is relocate my ‘Brown Witch’ spider daylily. It’s been showing off more and more blooms each year. Last summer the display was particularly impressive. It would’ve been even more impressive if the plant wasn’t being choked out by an exuberant butterfly bush. (No that’s not my plant in the photo above. I saw that one on a garden tour).
‘Brown Witch’ is tall daylily. The scapes reach 36 inches with 6-inch, copper-brown flowers that have a purple eye and a bright-yellow throat. I love the color because it’s refreshingly different from all the other blooms in my flowerbeds.
I’m going to find a new home for my plant in a much more prominent location in the yard, even if it means moving something else.
I have a feeling I’m in danger of starting a chain reaction…
