When listing great color combinations, I doubt many people would suggest orange and pink, but lily ‘Royal Sunset’ might just change that.
‘Royal Sunset’ is an LA hybrid bulb which means it’s a combination of an Asiatic lily and an Easter lily with sturdy stems and an abundance of flowers. Those pretty flowers are pink with a melon center that’s dotted with dark-red freckles.
‘Royal Sunset’ is easy to grow and doesn’t have any pest or disease issues. Just plant the bulbs 4 to 6 inches deep in the fall and wait for the show the following spring. The plants grow 3 to 4 feet tall and bloom in June.
I was more than pleased by the number of flowers my plant displayed in its first season in my garden, and I can’t wait to see what it does this year.
