Zahara zinnias continue to be some of my favorite annuals to grow. They flower all summer into fall. They’re drought-resistant, disease-resistant and will even keep blooming if I’m not particularly diligent about deadheading them.
Last summer I tried one of the newer colors, ‘Zahara Double Strawberry’:
Like the other Zaharas this cultivar grows 12 to 18 inches tall. ‘Zahara Double Strawberry’ has dark-pink flowers that fade to medium or light pink as they age. The color looks vibrant next to purples like salvias or ageratums.
Zaharas have an excellent germination rate. Each plant grows into a nice bushy clump that’s loaded with blooms until frost.
