It’s bulb-ordering season and I’m itching to grow something in pots over the winter. The grape hyacinths I planted last fall looked great in my flowerbeds this spring. I could force some and enjoy their grapey scent up close and personal.
Or I could force some tulips. I haven’t done that for a few years. The squirrels keep beheading the tulips that I grow outside, so maybe this would be my chance to appreciate the flowers for more than a day.
And I’ve really enjoyed trying out a few new amaryllis bulbs each winter. I think I’m going to have to keep that experiment going. The dark-red ones are my favorite.
