‘Pink Surprise’ gets the honor of being my first amaryllis bloom of the season. The surprise for me is the size of the flowers. They are more than 7 inches across!
‘Pink Surprise’ grows 22 to 26 inches tall. My amaryllis bulbs always grow shorter, and this one is no exception. The plant has topped out at a very manageable 17 inches.
‘Pink Surprise’ has lovely dark-pink flowers, and the petals are thick with just a hint of a ruffle to their edges. This first scape has 4 blossoms on it, however, something is already peeking out from the bulb. Soon I’ll know if it’s a leaf or another scape.
