If you need a very tall plant for the middle of an annual or perennial garden, consider daylily ‘Sherwood Gladiator’. This cultivar is one of the tallest daylilies I grow. The scapes top out at 54 inches.
The 6-inch flowers are a rich yellow color with a nice substance. ‘Sherwood Gladiator’ is a tetraploid that blooms in the middle of the daylily season.
I like to plant the bright, fragrant flowers next to oranges like zinnias or butterfly weed.
