I wish I knew the name of this little red tulip. My husband and I were admiring it the other day. It has bloomed every year in front of our dryer vent since we moved into this house 25 years ago. And it may have been blooming for several or many years before that. I’m happy when current cultivars return after just 5 years, so this tulip’s longevity blows my mind.
It grows in awful soil—almost dust—that’s never been amended, and I never think to water that area, especially once summer arrives and the foliage disappears. Even the squirrels appreciate the fact that it’s a classic and they leave it alone.
It’s a little red miracle tulip.
