How can you not fall head over heels in love with this little daffodil overachiever?
‘Falconet’ brought a smile to my face every time I visited my backyard this spring. ‘Falconet’ grows 12 to 14 inches tall, and each stem is loaded with up to 8 miniature flowers.
Those flowers are a bright, golden-yellow with little orange cups and they last for weeks. ‘Falconet’ won the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society, and it’s easy to see why.
My only beef with ‘Falconet’ is that it’s hardy only to Zone 5. I would love to plant a mass of these cuties in my north-facing front yard, but it takes the brunt of the winter wind and cold and I’m not sure ‘Falconet’ would be able to survive severe conditions year after year.
I will, however, be planting more of this outstanding little daffodil in my sheltered backyard because the flowers make me so happy.
