Lawn purists will probably shudder at this, but I purposely allow some white clover (Trifolium repens) to grow in our lawn.
After much trial and error over the years, I’ve discovered that the rabbits in my neighborhood would much rather munch on those tiny white flowers than anything that’s growing in my flowerbeds, and that’s just fine with me.
My annual flowers are next on the tasting menu if they can’t find any clover. I learned that the hard way during years when I yanked out or sprayed all the clover with weed killer. Now I just let it grow.
The bunnies are happy, I’m happy and my annuals are happy.
