There was a hard freeze a few weeks ago and it’s November, but thanks to various microclimates within our yard, some annuals and perennials are still hanging on like this ‘Trilogy Red’ Petunia that is nestled in a protected area on the patio:
These ‘Tidal Wave Hot Pink’ petunias are also thriving:
My tough-as-armor ‘Santa Cruz Sunset’ begonias face north in a more open area, but they survived the freeze just fine. They have the lushest foliage of any plant in my yard right now. They have superpowers:
In the backyard several nicotianas are still hanging on. This is ‘Sensation’:

There are a couple of last-gasp perennials too. A couple of my ‘Rozanne’ geraniums are still blooming:
And one of the compliments for the much-raved-about Coreopsis ‘Mercury Rising’ is that it’s a very long-blooming perennial. My plant started blooming in mid-June and still has flowers on it in early November. I’d say it’s lived up to that billing:
