I’ve wanted to post about Amaryllis ‘Flamenco Queen’ for a week now, but the sun hid for days, and it was difficult to snap a respectable, well-lit photo of these big, beautiful flowers:
‘Flamenco Queen’ has pure-white flowers with red stippling and brushstrokes that are darker on the top-most petals and sepals:
This cultivar grows about 2 feet tall with 7-inch flowers. My bulb has sent up two scapes that are about 25 inches tall. The first scape has three blooming flowers on it. The second has four buds. And there is a third scape just starting to emerge from the top of the bulb.
I’m a sucker for any flowers with stippling or freckles:
I wasn’t sure what to think when I saw online photos of this cultivar, but I’m glad I took a chance on it because in person the flowers are stunning.
