I forgot how much I enjoy growing Dianthus ‘Amazon Neon Rose Magic’. The plants don’t start blooming until later in the growing season, and by that time they are a sight for sore eyes.
I started my plants from seed indoors 11 weeks before I planned to plant them in the garden. They just started blooming last week. ‘Amazon Neon Rose Magic’ can grow 18 to 36 inches tall, but the plants usually top out at about 2 feet tall in my flowerbeds. The flowers bloom in many shades of pink, white and rose.
This cultivar has surprised me in the past by surviving a mild winter and popping up the following spring.
The last time I grew ‘Amazon Neon Rose Magic’ was about 8 years ago, but I’m going to be sure to put this cultivar back into rotation. The butterflies and bees love the flowers, and the plants never have any disease or pest issues.
