Earlier this year I mentioned feeling a little foolish about growing a ‘Fragrant Angel’ coneflower without ever taking a whiff of the flowers to see if they indeed had any fragrance. This summer I wasn’t going to let that happen again.
Grow this coneflower because it makes a great back-of-the-border anchor at about 40 inches tall. Or grow it because the flowers are a lovely pure white and attract bees and butterflies, but don’t grow it for the fragrance because there isn’t any. I sniffed and snuffled my way around all the flowers and I couldn’t detect a thing.
‘Fragrant Angel’ blooms on sturdy, upright stalks and is hardy in Zones 3-8.
