Dabbling in Daylilies

For about a decade I was completely obsessed with growing daylilies, but then the novelty sort of wore off. I still grow about 400 of them, but for the last couple of years they stopped cranking out the blooms when I neglected to dig and divide them after many years and my interest waned even more.

Daylilies come in so many rich, bright colors, the blooms are huge and no pests or diseases bother them. They are also drought-tolerant and because they can easily be divided, you can buy one plant and in a few years you can dig it up and you’ll have several more plants that you can keep or share or trade with friends or neighbors.

Maybe it’s time to fall in love with daylilies all over again.
