The other day I was looking out the window trying to identify a little purple flower blooming all alone in the rain.
I’d forgotten about the Drumstick Primrose (Primula denticulata) I purchased and planted last April.
My primrose survived winter just fine. Now we’ll see if it survives a change in climate and light conditions. Our neighbors have hired a company to remove two large trees that shade my primrose and a number of hostas and astilbes.
The utility companies arrived yesterday to mark all the underground utilities with flags, so the tree removal should happen any day now. Soon this little plant that prefers full or part-shade and moist conditions is in for a bit of a rude awakening.
Drumstick Primroses grow 12 inches tall and bloom in April and May.
