Orienpet ‘Friso’ Reaches for the Sky

My ‘Friso’ (aka ‘Silk Road’) Orientpet lilies just keep getting taller every year.

This summer they topped out at almost 12 feet.

While many Orienpet cultivars don’t need any staking, this one does. Twelve feet with a candelabra of flowers on top gets a little top-heavy. The official growing height for this plant is 4 to 6 feet, but my plants did that their first year and never looked back.

‘Friso’ has dark-pink flowers that have a white edge. The flowers start appearing in mid-July and while it’s hard to imagine something growing 12 feet from a bulb–‘Friso’ can and does. ‘Friso’ is hardy in Zones 4-8.
