If you’re looking for a native coneflower with a rich-pink color, try ‘Merlot’.
This Echinacea purpurea cultivar grows 2 to 3-feet tall in sun or part-shade.
The plants have a long blooming season, and the flowers appear on sturdy stalks that never need staking. In late summer I like to let some of the flowers go to seed for the American Goldfinches and other birds to nibble on.
‘Merlot’ is hardy in Zones 3-8.
