‘Stupice’

It’s time to harvest the first tomato of the season.  ‘Stupice’ (pronounced stew-PEACH-ka) hails from the former Czechoslovakia and ripens in about 62 days. It’s a very cold-tolerant, indeterminate plant that will keep on churning out tomatoes until there’s a killing frost.

The fruits are only about 2 inches in diameter, but they make up for their small stature by being incredibly tasty.

When the tomatoes on the rest of my plants begin ripening, I’m going to be in trouble. I have 16 plants in my garden and 4 more in pots on my front patio. I just couldn’t decide which heirlooms to try, so I decided to sample a little bit of everything. I’m going to be buried in an avalanche of tomatoes.
