I’m growing some ‘Blue Lake’ pole beans in my little vegetable garden this summer, but I forgot that the Japanese Beetles LOVE to munch on pole bean leaves. I sowed the seeds directly in the garden, and the plants are finally big enough to start wrapping themselves around the poles.
They better hurry. The first beetles should be hatching any day now. In my garden journal I’ve recorded them as early as June 16th, but on average they show up during the third week of June.
