‘Sweet Sugar’ Lily

I’m trying lily ‘Sweet Sugar’ for the first time, and I love all of the dark-pink speckles on those lavender-pink blooms.

This LA hybrid lily (a cross between an Easter lily and an Asiatic lily) grows 3 to 4 feet tall and blooms in late June and early July.

When I saw that this lily had opened up I immediately oooo-ed and ahhhh-ed, but it does have one weird quirk. The blooms don’t seem to open up completely. Instead the petals sort of “shrug” together like they’re unsure about venturing out into the world.

I won’t hold it against this lily. Not because in 2020 most people are unsure about venturing out into the world, but because the blooms are so pretty—even if they don’t open up completely.
