‘Magical Touch’ Returns

When ‘Magical Touch’ bloomed in mid-December the plant topped out at about 15 inches tall.

Last week the flowers on the second stalk started blooming and this time they reached 24 inches tall.

This cultivar is a “reverse picotee”. Usually picotee flowers are light with a dark edge, but ‘Magical Touch has red flowers with a white edge.

The second stalk has four 7-inch flowers blooming at once.

I don’t know why, but both times this amaryllis bloomed for me this season, I almost didn’t notice. While the flowers are nice, I think there are much more interesting cultivars to choose from.
