My sister knows I visit garden centers frequently in the spring, so she asked me to keep an eye out for a Fleabane ‘Pink Jewel’ plant for her this year. It took trips to 4 different garden centers in the area before I found it. After such hard work I decided to pick up a plant for myself as well.
‘Pink Jewel’ is listed in my favorite perennial book, Jeff Cox’s Perennial All-Stars: The 150 Best Perennials for Great-Looking, Trouble-Free Gardens, so I knew it wouldn’t disappoint.
‘Pink Jewel’ grows 18-24 inches tall and likes well-drained soil in full sun. Thanks to all the oaks surrounding our property, it’s going to have to be satisfied with partial sun.
I don’t want to judge ‘Pink Jewel’ until I’ve watched it grow for a year, but Jeff Cox describes it as a durable plant with no pest or disease problems.
My ‘Pink Jewel’ started to bloom recently, and I can already say this about it, it’s very photogenic.
