The daylilies are about a week or so behind compared to last year, but the plants have many more buds. Every morning I leap out of bed and run outside to see what’s blooming. Here are some of the daylilies that are putting on a show in my garden today.
‘Strutter’s Ball’ (28″/6″), a solid performer that holds its color well in the sun:
‘Pumpkin Kid’ (18″/5.5″), a great cultivar for the front of the border:
‘Becky Lynn’ (20″/6.75″) with its huge blooms. My plant does wonderfully in the shade bed:
Cheery ‘Chicago Sun’ (28″/6″):
‘Siloam Bye Lo’ (16″/3.25″), another great daylily for the front of the border. Of the 300+ cultivars I grow, this one has the best fragrance:
Funky-colored ‘Wild One’ (34″/7.25″):
And one of the heaviest-blooming and beautiful reds in the daylily garden, ‘Red Volunteer’ (30″/7″):
