Phlox Paniculata ‘Purple Flame’

When phlox ‘Purple Flame’ first bloomed in my garden 8 years ago, my plant appeared to have some issues. The flowers are not supposed to have that funky splash of lavender in them, but I rather enjoyed it.

That mutation or whatever it was has finally worked itself out:

‘Purple Flame’ is a dwarf phlox that grows 12 to 18 inches tall. The plants are resistant to powdery mildew and will grow in full sun or light shade conditions.

That shade of purple looks really cool growing next to a more blue-purple flower like Platycodon grandiflorus (balloon flower).
