Look at the gorgeous blooms of Asiatic lily ‘John Hancock’! This is another lily cultivar that I planted last fall.

The flowers are golden-yellow with burgundy brush marks:

In my growing zone Asiatic lilies usually bloom from late June into early July. This year they started blooming two to three weeks earlier which was also the wettest period of our summer so far.

The up-facing flowers held up very well through numerous strong thunderstorms with high winds and heavy rain.

‘John Hancock’ grows 3 to 4 feet tall in full to part sun. Plant the bulbs in the fall and you’ll get flowers the following spring. This lily is hardy in Zones 4-8.
