Shasta Daisy ‘Becky’

I added Shasta Daisy ‘Becky’ to my little pollinator garden this spring which also has laitris, agastache and prairie coneflowers. I wanted a little white to set off all that pink and purple, and daisies attract butterflies.

‘Becky’ was the Perennial Plant of the Year in 2003 and grows about 3 feet tall. It prefers full sun and tolerates drought. It needs well-drained soil.

‘Becky’ blooms for many weeks, and the cut flowers last a long time in a vase. Another plus is that the plant doesn’t need staking.

The downsides are that ‘Becky’ can’t handle soggy soil, and it’s considered a relatively short-lived perennial.

I had one that happily grew in one of my backyard flowerbeds for about 10 years, and I’m hoping this one lasts just as long.
