Phlox Paniculata ‘Bright Eyes’

I always get a little sad in August when the daylilies finish up blooming for the year. WIth the exception of a handful that may rebloom, I won’t see the lovely bright flowers again until next summer.

Thankfully other plants spring to life this time of year like Phlox paniculata. I grow ‘Bright Eyes’ despite the fact that it sometimes develops a nasty case of powdery mildew. This year my plant looks spectacular.

‘Bright Eyes’ has light pink flowers with darker pink eye. It grows 3 feet tall and has a nice fragrance. ‘Bright Eyes’ makes a lovely cottage garden plant. I grow mine next to ‘Potter’s Purple’ butterfly bushes.
