This is a great Aster for the fall garden. Aster x frikartii ‘Monch’ (24-36″) is sometimes listed as not reliably winter hardy in zones 5 and 6, but I’m in zone 5a and haven’t lost a plant yet.
I’ve had disease problems with other asters, but this one is carefree. It won’t need staking if you cut it back in early summer.
It gives me weeks and weeks of beautiful lavender-blue flowers from late summer into fall.
