Somewhere out there under the ice and snow are some new plants waiting to explode from the doldrums. In late summer I bought a few new daylilies. I saw the 6-inch golden blooms of ‘Potosi’ on a garden tour. They were stunning. Soon after, I overheard some fellow gardeners giddily singing the praises of this beautiful daylily, and knew I had to have one.
I’ve seen ‘Tigereye Spider’ in several gardens, and I’ve taken way too many photos of it. That’s usually my hint that it’s time to add one to my collection:
In the fall I planted some lily bulbs. Somewhere I have a list of what they are and where I put them, but one I remember is ‘Satisfaction’ which is an Orienpet (a cross between a Trumpet lily and an Oriental lily). The plants grow 3 to 4 feet tall with blooms up to 9 inches. Rotary Gardens in Janesville had a nice display of them this past summer. I thought they’d be great for the middle of my perennial bed:
Now all I need is for winter to take a hike.
