Because daylily flowers are only open for one day, you never know what kind of color combinations you’ll see in the garden throughout the summer.
This year ‘Custard Candy’ and ‘Ram’ put on a little show together on several different days.

More than a decade ago now a trial was done in Holland to try to figure out which daylilies produced the most blooms in a season. ‘Custard Candy’ (on the right) was in the top 5. It churned out more than 500 blooms a year once established!
The plants grow 24 inches tall with cream-colored flowers that have a maroon eye. This cultivar won the highest award a daylily can win in 1999.

‘Ram’ (on the left) only grows 25 inches tall but the flowers are gigantic—7 inches across! The petals have little ruffles on them.
I love those cheery, bright-yellow flowers that appear each day. I’ve probably divided my plant 5 times now so I could enjoy the big blooms in other parts of my yard.
