I must admit that my ‘Lavender Blue Baby’ daylily is not a heavy bloomer, but the blooms that do appear are worth the wait:
For the last two summers, my plant has sent up one or two scapes with a half-dozen or more blooms on each scape. Normally I would dig up such an “underperformer”, but I’m absolutely mesmerized by the lovely bluish-lavender flowers.
And it’s entirely possible that as the plant matures it will send up even more scapes. In the mean time I plan to cherish whatever flowers do appear.
‘Lavender Blue Baby’ grows 28 inches tall with 6-inch flowers. It’s a dormant daylily that blooms earlier in the daylily season. This gorgeous plant won the Stout Silver Medal in 2007.
