My ‘Eyeliner’ Asiatic lily put on a nice little display this year at the end of June and the beginning of July. Thankfully it bloomed before the really hot weather overwhelmed us, so the flowers lasted several weeks (unlike my ‘Satisfaction’ Orienpet lilies that melted in the heat within a few days).
I plopped ‘Eyeliner’ in the middle of a daylily bed where it stands out nicely because it is about a foot taller than the rest of the plants.
I love the whisper of color on the petal edges:
I’m also a sucker for freckles and ‘Eyeliner’ has dark-maroon freckles splattered on its true-white petals.
‘Eyeliner’ grows about 3 feet tall and thrives in sun or partial-shade. The white flowers blend nicely with any other colors in the garden, but planting it next to a purple or a maroon daylily that blooms at the same time like ‘Night Rhythms’ or ‘Sable Song’ would really bring out the freckles.
