I potted up quite a few amaryllis bulbs so I would have some flowers to enjoy during the dreary days of winter. ‘Neon’ was impatient and started blooming already in mid-November—only several weeks after I nestled the bulb into its pot.
Thankfully ‘Neon’ wasn’t finished. A second stalk emerged and now one month later I have 6 more fresh blooms. The flowers are a little darker pink this time and the stalk got a little taller—24 inches instead of 18 inches.
‘Neon’ still isn’t finished. A third stalk has just emerged. I’m surprised that poor bulb has anything left to give at this point, but I’ll be more than happy to welcome fresh flowers in a few weeks.
