My ornery amaryllis bulb has finally bloomed. ‘Temptation’ has white flowers with splashes and splatters of raspberry-red:
In my mind (probably because I’ve been waiting so long for the bulb to bloom) I was expecting something very tall, but ‘Temptation’ topped out at a nice 18 inches. The flowers are 5-inches across and completely out-facing. I staked the scapes just in case, but so far they haven’t leaned in the slightest.
‘Red Pearl’ opened its second scape full of flowers just as ‘Temptation’ was starting to bloom. The two complement one another quite nicely:
