My lilies started blooming last summer just as the mercury climbed into the “unbearable” category, so I didn’t spend as much time admiring them and photographing them as I normally would. However, I still managed to sneak a few peeks during the early morning hours.
A new one for me was ‘Fangio’, an L.A. hybrid (a cross between an Asiatic and a Longiflorum lily). The flowers are gorgeous. I would describe the color as dark, hot-pink.
‘Fangio’ grows 3 feet tall and the flowers are slightly fragrant.
L.A. hybrids have very sturdy, weather-resistant stems with loads of up-facing flowers. These bulbs seem just as happy growing in part-shade as they do in full sun—at least in my Zone 5 yard.
