Daylily ‘Matthew Martin’

Daylily ‘Matthew Martin’ adds a unique color to the garden:

The flower color is registered as “brown,” but the color is much more complicated than that. Perhaps it’s somewhere between a cinnamon red and a rust-colored brown. There’s also an eye-catching burgundy band around a bright-yellow throat.

‘Matthew Martin’ grows 28 inches tall with 6-inch flowers.  This is the second year for this cultivar in my garden, and it bloomed for an impressive number of weeks.

Planting ‘Matthew Martin’ next to yellow flowers would bring out its beautiful yellow eye. A more exotic pairing would be to plant it next a dark-purple daylily. ‘Matthew Martin’ starts blooming in the middle of the daylily season.
