The second pot of forced hyacinth bulbs are now filling my office with their yummy scent. This is ‘City of Haarlem’:
‘City of Haarlem’ grows 8 to 12 inches tall. When planted outside the bulbs are hardy in Zones 4-8 and bloom in full sun or partial-shade. They prefer well-drained soil.
The cream-colored flowers turn more white as they open fully.
I forced my bulbs by chilling them in a cool garage for 12 weeks. Then I brought them inside and let them adjust to the warmth and light before putting them in a bright, sunny room.
