Another of my forced hyacinths is opening, and so far it’s my favorite. This is ‘Miss Saigon’:
The flowers are violet-purple, but the best part is the underside of the petals which are a beautiful shade of blue:
‘Miss Saigon’ grows 8 to 12 inches tall in well-drained soil. When planted outside the bulbs are hardy in Zones 4-8.
The flowers haven’t opened fully yet, so there’s some fragrance, but it’s not hitting me when I enter the room like it was with ‘Gypsy Queen’. Wow, was that hyacinth ever fragrant!
