My ‘Orange Marmalade’ hosta was very bright and eye-catching when I first got it, but every year since then it’s lost more and more of its color:
After 4 years in my yard it looked like this:
Now after six years it looks nothing like it did when I first planted it:
I’ve mentioned previously that I really don’t mind that this hosta has morphed so far away from its original color. ‘Orange Marmalade’ thrives in a difficult location and it seems to be particularly immune to slug attacks, so the foliage stays tidy and attractive throughout the summer. And I’m not a big fan of hosta flowers, but this cultivar puts on a nice little display:
It’s just odd that something called ‘Orange Marmalade’ would be so green.
