I will be growing zinnia ‘UpTown Grape’ for the third year in a row this summer. I love to use this bushy, upright-growing cultivar in the middle of my annual beds.
‘UpTown Grape’ grows 18 to 24 inches tall and the plants are drought-tolerant and disease-resistant. They’re also easy to start from seed.
I noticed that Swallowtail butterflies seemed to prefer this zinnia over some of the others in my garden last summer, and it was one of the few zinnia cultivars that didn’t develop powdery mildew during our ridiculously wet growing season.
‘UpTown Grape’ blooms all summer into fall.
