Daylily ‘Wispy Rays’

Daylily ‘Wispy Rays’ caught my eye about a decade ago because of its cool watermark (which is officially described as “ginger”). The flowers are HUGE on this daylily—almost 8 inches across. One of its parents is ‘Ruby Spider’ which is another favorite cultivar of mine.

‘Wispy Rays’ is a great back-of-the-border plant. It grows about 3 feet tall with loads of bright red flowers with that ginger watermark and a very large yellow-green throat.

This daylily was in the running for the highest daylily award back in 2012 (the Stout Silver Medal Award). It lost out to ‘Carnival in Mexico’.

‘Wispy Rays’ is an evergreen daylily that grows in the middle of the daylily season.
