Hosta ‘Orange Star’ is supposed to have bright yellow or orange leaves with dark green margins. Either I got a mislabeled plant, or my hosta is acting strange because it’s getting too much sun.
‘Orange Star’ grows 10-12 inches tall with a spread of 16 to 20 inches. Check! But the official description of this cultivar says: “If grown in morning sun, the thick leaf centers will be orange in spring and by August fade to a cream color. If grown in the shade, you will have yellow leaves throughout the season that will not darken like the parent does.”
Hmmm. My plant gets morning shade and afternoon sun and it has lime green leaves with dark green margins. At least it got the 10-12 inches tall part right!
I guess I’ll see what it looks like in August!
