‘Fire Island’ Hosta

When my ‘Fire Island’ Hosta first emerges in the spring, the leaves are a shocking neon yellow, which always catches me by surprise.

But as the weeks go by it loses that yellow and turns an eye-catching chartreuse color.

This hosta grows about 15 inches tall in part shade to full shade. It’s best to plant this cultivar in an area where it’s protected from the hot afternoon sun because those brilliant-colored leaves can scorch.
